During the manufacturing of slewing bearings, gear radial runout (also referred to as ring gear radial runout) is a critical inspection indicator. It represents the radial deviation of gear teeth relative to the central axis when the ring gear rotates. Excessive gear radial runout will cause meshing vibration, abnormal noise, tooth surface pitting and uneven wear, making it a mandatory precision inspection item before delivery.
For inspection, the probe of a dial gauge is attached to the tooth surface, and the bearing is driven to rotate a full circle. The difference between the maximum and minimum readings on the dial gauge is the gear radial runout value.
UWE measures gear radial runout tooth by tooth with professional testing equipment. Upon completion of inspection, we mark the areas with maximum or minimum runout values with green paint as required by customers. This marking assists customers in positioning the drive gear during installation, ensuring smoother operation and extended service life of the entire transmission system.
